Knowing how to update Google Chrome is wise because Google updates its Chrome web browser regularly. Chrome is available for use on Windows (7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11), macOS, and Linux operating systems, and for Android and iOS mobile operating systems. Chrome was first released in December 2008. According to StatCounter Global Stats, Google Chrome is the world’s most widely used web browser.
Chrome is a light-weight and fast web browser. It uses a minimalistic user interface, such as the combination of the web browser’s address bar and search field into a single field called the omnibox. As a user types into the omnibox, previously visited sites, search results, and search suggestions will display. Chrome includes a form Autofill feature so you can choose to complete online forms with a single click. Personalization and customization options include Chrome themes, apps, and extensions.
About Google Chrome
Updates often include important security fixes. If you are currently running a version of Google Chrome, you may update Google Chrome to the latest version by clicking the Customize and control Google Chrome button, an icon with 3 vertical dots located to the right of the web address bar. Select Help > About Google Chrome:

Or you may type chrome://help/
into the address bar to navigate to the About window. Any available update will begin to download immediately. The progress of the download and update will display as a percentage in the About window.

Once downloaded and installed, a notification will display that Chrome is Nearly up-to-date! Relaunch Google Chrome to finish updating. To complete the update, click the Relaunch button to relaunch the web browser application.

When Chrome relaunches, the About window informs you that Google Chrome is up to date.

Additionally, a new tab may display to confirm that Your Chrome is up to date, and to let you know about what is new in Chrome. With each update, Chrome gets even faster and more secure.
