Watch the Video: How to use Java in Chrome on Windows 10
Web browsers may display a notification if they require Java to display content, but Java is not enabled or installed. The notification may say, Sorry your browser is not Java enabled, or something similar. It is possible that Java is not installed on your computer. You may need to install Java first in order to enable it. To troubleshoot the issue, follow the steps below:
Step 1. Enable Java
Be certain you are using the latest Java version. For information specific to your favorite web browser, please see our articles about how to enable Java in:
- Chrome (or watch the video tutorial)
- Firefox (or watch the video tutorial)
- Windows 10 / Microsoft Edge (or watch the video tutorial) | Internet Explorer
- Opera
- Safari (updated for Safari 12)
Step 2. Set which web browsers should use Java
Select which browser installation(s) on your computer should use the latest Java version you installed. Click the Start button on your computer, and click All Programs (on Windows 7) or All apps (on Windows 10). Find Java in the list of programs (which may also say Java (32-bit) or Java (64-bit)).
Double-click Java to launch the Java Control Panel in a new window (on Windows 10, click Configure Java under Java in the apps list). In the Advanced tab, scroll to the Default Java for browsers section, and make certain to check each check box.
Step 3. Modify the Trusted sites security level
View the Trusted sites list in Internet Explorer (under the Tools menu -> Internet Options -> Security tab).
Try setting the security level for your Trusted sites list to Low. Next, click the Sites button to add the web site domain name for the location of the Java content. You may need to add “*.domain-name.com” (i.e. use the actual domain name for the location of the Java content in place of “domain-name”) to your Trusted sites list. The “*” is a wildcard variable, which means that the setting applies to all host names and sub-domains under that top-level domain.
