Watch the Video: How to mute tabs in Vivaldi browser
The Vivaldi web browser displays a speaker icon in a browser tab as a sound indicator when audio is playing in that web page. When no sound is playing, the speaker icon is not present. If you do not want to hear sound from a tab, there is no need to mute your entire system. You can mute the sound originating from that particular tab — if you know how to mute tabs in Vivaldi browser.
When the audio indicator is present in a Vivaldi tab, left-click on the speaker icon in the tab itself to mute audio in that tab.
You can also right-click on the tab, and select Mute Tab from the right-click menu (or press the lower-case E key on your keyboard as a shortcut).
With the tab muted, the speaker icon displays with a diagonal strike-through. To unmute audio in the tab, left-click on the speaker icon.
You can also right-click on the tab, and uncheck Mute Tab in the right-click menu (or press the lower-case E key).
Unlike other web browsers that include a mute tab feature, the right-click menu Mute Tab option does not display when audio is not playing. As such, there is no current method to preemptively mute a tab. However, it is important to note that a muted tab remains muted even when you change locations within that tab. Keep an eye on the audio indicator if you expect to hear audio, but don’t. It may be that a tab you muted has remained muted as you navigated to another location.
Mute all Vivaldi Tabs
No method currently exists to mute all Vivaldi tabs from within the browser application. If audio is playing in multiple tabs simultaneously, you must individually mute each tab. However, Windows users can right-click the on the Speakers/Headphones volume icon in their taskbar. In the right-click menu, select Open Volume Mixer. Click the speaker icon at the base of the Vivaldi column to mute all Vivaldi tabs.
Please note that Vivaldi may only display in the Volume Mixer when sound is actively playing in a Vivaldi tab. You will know you have muted Vivaldi when the speaker icon displays with a universal no icon. To unmute Vivaldi, click the muted speaker icon.
